On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, The Ambassador of Romania and Mrs. Lavinia Ionita in cooperation with the Director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Stockholm invited Royalty & VIP guests to the vernissage of the exhibition ”An Explanation of Love” by the Romanian – Swedish painter Dorina Mocan on Tuesday, 7 March 2023, at 18:00 hrs.

The vernissage will be honoured by the presence of Her Majesty Margareta, Margareta, Custodian of the Crown of Romania and His Royal Highness Prince Radu of Romania, and it will be followed by a Cocktail Venue: Romanian Cultural Institute, Skeppsbron 20, 111 30 Stockholm.

DORINA MOCAN was born in Romania and she studied art from the age of ten in her hometown Tårgu Mure. She got a degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cluj-Napoca 1977, and in 1981 she moved to Sweden where she became one of the country’s well-respected and beloved artists. Her work has touched the hearts and lives of many, with art critics describing her work as carrying ”an inner light” that shines forth. Her successful career has involved many assignments and exhibitions both nationally and internationally, especially in Asia. Her paintings can be admired at the Swedish Arts Council as well as in many municipalities and county councils, cruise lines, companies and private collections in about thirty countries, including at the Swedish Royal family’s private collections after His Majesty the King and the Queen visited one of her exhibitions in Stockholm. In 2017, Dorina Mocan was awarded the third Prize of the prestigious international portrait competition ”Portrait Now” in Denmark for her painting ”Sara and her entourage”.

Dorina have always acknowledged her own feminine side by portraying the female figure and that has made her feel close to and at home in her creative work. Ever since childhood, Dorina have been fascinated and captivated by the goodness and beauty of her mother’s face, the appearance of her female friends, sisters of mind and all the young girls whom she have met through the years. Sooner or later they end up on the canvas while she sing her praise to them and their strength and beauty.
